10 Things You Might Not Know About BKCMom
or, some things you don't know about BKCMom and a lot of things you do know because BKCMom can't keep anything to herself. These things are listed in order of importance or relevance or whatever order they come to my mind...you decide.
10. I rarely do anything with my brows. If you've seen me, you know this, it's kind of hard to hide. I don't have a bushy uni brow or anything but my brows don't naturally have anything in the way of shape. When I say rarely, I mean like 4-5 times per year. I'm okay with that. My husband married me so he must be okay with it too. I also...
9. Rarely shave my legs anymore. If this grosses you out, stop reading and skip to the next one. I'm not sure if it will be any less gross as I haven't actually written it yet but I wish you the best of luck. I figured after 3 pregnancies during which I could only barely even see my legs if at all, that it wasn't so important. Especially in the winter. I don't neglect this to the point of my brows. In this case, by rarely I mean once per every 7-10 days.
8. I love to sing. I'm not good at it. I've never deluded myself into believing that I am. I love doing it though. I do it loudly and vigorously in my car. I don't do it in the shower. That only magnifies my lack of talent. I love to do it though.
7. I avoid confrontation whenever possible. I don't have a problem telling people no, especially if I've married or given birth to said people. I don't like to fight though. My hubby is rolling his eyes as he's reading this saying, "Yeah, right." It's true though. I'm a pouter, not a fighter. I get really nervous at the thought of arguing with someone. I don't like it. I might do it, but I'm not sure I'm good at it and I know I don't like it. Which leads me to....
6. I'm a pouter, as previously stated. My husband and anyone who has ever lived with me will attest to this. I pout when I get mad. I think hubby is finally learning, after 10 years, that it's better just to let me be all mad and quiet for a couple of days and get over it on my own. I will, eventually, but I'm really good at the silent treatment. And discussing what is wrong doesn't work. If asked what's the matter, I'll probably say nothing, despite the fact that there obviously is something wrong.
5. I hate having my pictures taken. I hate it. I especially dislike candid photos though professional portraits are only fractionally better. It seems like I always have my mouth open and look fat in photos that are just spontaneous. Granted, I'm a chub and my mouth is always open, but still. I want to be skinny in my pictures. I guess that's why I don't have a single picture of myself on my laptop.
4. I wear a size 6 in shoes. Just wanted to throw that out there. I've worn that size forever. It's not quite the same size I wore in high school. Back then I wore a 5 1/2. Trust me, that's absolutely the closest any of my current sizes are to the ones from back in the day. Size 6 though....eat your heart out.
3. I love babies. I love, love, love, love little babies. We've got a new baby at church. I held him. I told the hubby that I wanted another baby. Fortunately for him, and for me as well, and definitely for any potential future little BKCs, we can no longer have children. Well, I can no longer have any babies. I would do it right now though if I could and hubby had a really good job. I'm pretty sure Mommaw would leave the country if I demanded that she watch another tiny baby-especially after the experience that is Baby BKC-so the hub would definitely have to have a really good job because I'd have to quit work for sure. I loved being pregnant though, all three times. I miss having that baby in my tummy, I really do. I'd do it again right now, I'm serious....no, wait, what am I saying? I'm *^ years old. I couldn't have another baby. That's complete lunacy.
2. I've mentioned that I like to read. I actually love to read. I could sit and read my favorite authors 24/7 if my life would allow it. Unfortunately, my life will not allow that. If I'm fortunate, I get to read an hour an evening. If it's been a while since I actually had something new to read, I'll read whatever I can get my hands on. You know all of this already. That's not something you might not know. What you might not know is, I'm a really good reader. You know what they say, practice makes perfect. I'm really good at it. I say this because I read the 1st chapter of Matthew aloud at bible study Wednesday night and some folks were surprised that I could read that well. I do it quite well though. In fact, on the Reading section of the ACT, which I took just a few years ago, I scored a 34 out of 36. Not too bad, if I do say so myself. And that leads me to......
1. I'm not as dumb as I act. I'm goofy and silly and sometimes a little weird, but by no stretch of the imagination am I a dummy. Actually, I'm pretty smart. I'm one of those people who believes that if someone has to constantly remind people of their superior qualities, like intelligence or kindness or charity, then they're probably insecure about that and just trying to hide that it's one of their inferior qualities. Really, though, in my case, it's true...I am pretty smart. I went all through 6 years of college and only ever got As or Bs. I think my graduation GPA at Morehead was 3.8. I made a 30 on the ACT and for those of you who are saying, "A 30, hah, that's not even passing!" Back in the day, a long, long time ago, that was a 30 out of a 36. Not too shabby. Seriously, I'm not a complete knucklehead, I only act like one sometimes. :)
Disagree with any of the above, like maybe you think I sing beautifully or that I really don't act goofy or silly at all? Suggestions for other things people might not know about BKCMom? Suggestions for other BKCMom posts because I've obviously run out of ideas? Please, feel free to contact me. I promise, I'll take all responses seriously, especially any complimentary ones. No, seriously, I will. I won't delete any responses about my deficiencies while grumbling to myself about the nerve of some people. Really. I promise.
