I'm Tired and other complaints!

It's been a while since I posted. I'm making no apologies. It's a free country. I'll blog when I want to.

I've been super busy, what with the working, the two babies, the husband, the birthday parties and baby showers, church, bible study.. no wait, not that. I can't blame it on that as I've skipped three of the past five midweek bible study sessions at church. Oops.

August 18th of course was Big BK's 4th birthday. His party was the following Saturday. He had an "instruction" party. You know, an "instruction" party, with bull dozers, loaders, building stuff, you know, "instruction". He had an "instruction" party last year too. I suspect we'll be having a large number of "instruction" parties. I think Baby BK is going to have an "instruction" party in October when he turns 2 because we have a lot of "instruction" decorations left. I economize. That's just how I roll.

The party was a great success. How do I measure this, you might ask. Well, all of Big BK's friends came down. That was all he needed. That was all he wanted. That and a chalk line. All of his friends came down and I didn't run out of food. That's all I ask. Everyone got to eat. Pop got a little sparse at the end but I think there was enough of that too. So, like I said, it was a success. Except that, when I served cake, I forgot to get the ice cream out of the freezer. Oops again. Oh, and he got 2, count 'em two, chalk lines!

The Saturday following his birthday, I had a baby shower to cook for. I've said before that my best friend of X number of years is expecting her third baby (at her age, no less!). She requested that I make the food for the shower, as my gift to her. And of course I relished to opportunity to cook for people. I thought it would be a good way to get my name out there, let people know that I'm doing it and let them see that I'm doing it well so that they can spread the word. Because I was getting ready for that shower, shopping for groceries, doing prep work and stuff, I managed to go an entire week without cooking any actual supper for my family. Remember just a few seconds ago that I said I relished the opportunity to cook for people? Apparently this only applies to people I'm not related to by birth or marriage. I did make my husband a sausage, mushroom and onion omelet one night because he kept saying that he was starved to death. I can take a hint.

The food for the shower was fantastic, by the way. Stuffed mushrooms, mini onion tartletts, mini veggie pizzas, curry and fruit chicken salad sandwiches, mini Reuben, pasta salad with fruit, Mediterranean pasta salad, chocolate covered strawberries, spinach dip and southwestern tortilla pinwheels. I couldn't purchase puff pastry so that put a crimp in my menu but everything turned out well. The mommy to be had a cake at the shower created by Sweet Creations. Melinda, the owner of this particular cakery, was a couple years ahead of me in school. She's very talented when it comes to decorating cakes. The cake for baby Violet was lovely but it was also very delicious. If you're not familiar with Melinda, check out my myspace, she's one of my friends. I like birthday cake but I don't like super sweet cake. Hers was done in buttercream with fondant decorations. It wasn't too sweet. And it sliced absolutely perfectly. There, a shout out to another entrepreneur!

Oh, yeah, the title of this post is my complaints. I forgot. I am tired. Nothing new there. And I've been mad for the better part of the week, issues related to the summer work program I've been dealing with. Well, the summer work program and some potentially dishonest shananigans being attempted by former participants. Let's see, what else can I complain about.....Hmmm. Seems like that's about it. Apparently my life is not as horrible as I sometimes make it sound. Huh, who'd have thought? :)
